ASaSo
Conversion of a commercial space into a medical centre
Founded in 2011 by two doctors and a group of volunteers, the non-profit organisation Asaso has developed a medical centre based on flat-rate financing, providing comprehensive and accessible care. Today, it has 14 employees and 2,100 patients. Faced with the saturation of medical centres in Brussels and the increase in the local population, Asaso is looking to move in order to expand its premises and diversify its activities.
The choice fell on a 455 m² site on the ground floor, located on avenue de Forest. It will house the care, reception and administration areas, while the rear building will house a workshop room on the ground floor and a staff room on the first floor.
The rear courtyard will be transformed into a green, permeable outdoor space. The interior work will retain the exposed load-bearing structure and limit the use of partitions, with glazed sections to preserve the brightness. A new, contemporary but integrated connecting structure will link the two buildings.
